Chicacao
The town of Chicacao is located in the mountainous Southwestern part of Guatemala . For 15 years a dedicated group of residents and teachers have been struggling to create a library for their children and community. With no money, few resources but an indomitable spirit this group has been trying valiantly to cobble together resources. Read the story of Blanca, Flor and these inspiring partners.
The Melotto School: The Power of Opportunity
The Angelico Melotto School is located in the Department of Chimaltenango and has over 450 students. The students come from very poor families who struggle to keep their children in school. Until Child Aid’s recent assistance, the library consisted of basically a couple small metal bookshelves and one old wooden bookcase. Child Aid is now through books and reading programs changing this bleak environment. The library is now a joyous place of learning. Read more »

CORAL,The Oaxacan Center for the Rehabilitation of Hearing and Speech/Centro Oaxaqueño de Rehabilitación de Audición y Lenguaje, A.C., brings hearing services to thousands of poor Oaxacans each year. The newest effort of this long standing partner focuses on early childhood detection to allow children to break out of their world of silence and enter the world of learning. Read More
