Library & School Partnerships
Child Aid currently partners with 26 communities in the Guatemalan Highlands. The children in these communities face some of the world’s worst childhood malnutrition rates and a legacy of illiteracy that has affected their families for generations. Nearly all of them are indigenous. By partnering with these communities, we help thousands of children learn to read and gain the skills they need to improve their lives.
We provide critical training to over 300 teachers in 24 schools and work with over 40 librarians in 28 libraries. Our community partners include the towns of Agua Escondida, Pasac, Tecpan, Santa Rosa, Las Canoas, Santa Lucía Utatlán, Sumpango, Tzanchaj, El Tejar, Santa Cruz Balanyá, San Pedro Yepocapa and Tzununá. We also partner with individual libraries and schools in the cities of Chimaltenango, Chicacao, Antigua and Guatemala City.
